Dall’Era glaciale 4  in Molise: Steve Martino torna nella sua terra d’origine

Il Presidente del Consiglio Regionale del Molise, Vincenzo Niro, in mattinata, ha avuto il piacere di ospitare, nella struttura del Consiglio Regionale, il famoso regista americano, ma con origini molisane, Steve Martino, che ha diretto celebri film di animazione, come “L’era glaciale”, “Robot” e “Horton”.

Ad accompagnare il regista anche la sua famiglia e Angelo Simonelli, sindaco di Toro, paese nativo del nonno paterno dell’artista.

“È motivo di grande orgoglio, per me, ospitare, nella “casa di vetro” che rappresento, un nostro corregionale che ha avuto la capacità di affermarsi in tutto il mondo, attraverso la nobile arte del cinema” Con queste parole il Presidente Niro ha accolto il regista Martino, il quale ha subito ricambiato con sincera gratitudine: “Sono rimasto molto colpito dalla bellezza dei posti presenti qui in Molise, ma soprattutto dall’ospitalità che le persone mi hanno offerto. Appena tornerò in America non esiterò a raccontare tutto questo, con entusiasmo, agli amici più stretti.” E rivolgendosi al Presidente Niro: “tu hai un grosso impegno: quella di rappresentare questa bellissima Regione”.Prima della conclusione del caloroso incontro attraverso lo scambio di doni istituzionali, il Presidente Niro ha illustrato al dott. Martino i progetti che sta portando avanti nel settore culturale e cinematografico, tesi a valorizzare il ricco patrimonio presente nella nostra regione, come la presentazione del T.U. sulla cultura e la promozione dell’associazione Molise Film Commission. “Sono convinto che ci aiuterai, anche dall’altra parte del Continente, a far conoscere al mondo le bellezze della nostra terra, attraverso la produzione cinematografica”,  è l’invito finale che il Presidente Niro ha rivolto al regista.

OSPITE A TORO (CB) 

Saranno giorni intensi quelli che si vivranno a Toro, un paesino in provincia di Campobasso in Molise, quando il paese ospiterà il regista Steve Martino. Perché Toro? Perché il regista di fama internazionale andrà a conoscere il paese d’origine della sua famiglia. Il nonno paterno, Nicola Martino, ha lasciato Toro all’inizio del secolo scorso per emigrare in America. Steve Martino ha ereditato dal papà Armand la passione per il disegno tanto che il futuro regista si laurea all’Università dell’Ohio  prima in Visual Communication e poi in Computer Design.  È un regista che proviene dal mondo del videogame, è stato art director del gioco "Monty Python's The Meaning of Life", ma anche del film Robots  prima di arrivare a dirigere, insieme a Jimmy Hayrward, Ortone e il mondo dei Chi. Lo scorso anno  i vertici della Blue Sky Studios gli affidano la regia, insieme a Michael Thurmeler, del quarto episodio de L'era glaciale 4 - Continenti alla deriva che arriva sul grande schermo dopo una lavorazione di oltre tre anni.
